About

“There's a lotta things about me you don't know anything about, Dottie. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand. […] You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel. So long, Dott.” Pee-Wee Herman

Hello! We are Holden and Margishvili Studio for experimental projects.

At HAMS we believe in:

  • the power of storytelling;

  • unexpected collaborations and cross-pollination of ideas;

  • sharing our planet responsibly and respectfully with other human and non-human inhabitants.

At HAMS we don’t believe in:

  • bottomless consumerism;

  • monuments for people and people for monuments;

  • ultra-skinny jeans, ultra-wide TVs, ultra-processed foods, and ultra-wealthy people.

John Holden works in the film industry as a set dresser and moonlights as a partner of HAMS. Previously, John wore many hats from his time at Google’s video production and at NBC’s script dept. He also held various positions in TV and Film industry, directed short videos, and played drums in punk bands. John holds a film restoration degree from Cornell.

Ruso Margishvili is an architectural designer and illustrator. She holds B.Arch degree from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and M.Arch degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, College of Architecture. Before co-finding HAMS, Ruso worked on cultural and institutional projects as an associate of O’Neill McVoy Architects and a Project Architect at Snøhetta. Ruso also held designer positions at architecture firms in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she is from.

Despite the different backgrounds, John and Ruso have successfully collaborated on various projects from a musical production to a 58” (140 cm) wide concept store and a gallery in Harlem, NYC.
